The article focuses on Italian Opera Houses and their regulation. In particular, the analysis deals with the institutional feature of such bodies, which fall within both private law and public law. The article also illustrates how the choice of privatizing these entities did not bring to the expected results, mainly because of the inadequacy of the institutional model that they adopted. Lastly, the Author proposes to re-think the management of these cultural entities to avoid that they end up "captured" by the bureaucratic side of public law.
