Landscape as a tool of intercultural mediation: everyday places in native and foreign children’s life experiences. – This paper illustrates the stages of “LINK” Project (“Landscape and Immigrants: Networks/Knowledge”), which used landscape as a tool of intercultural mediation for investigating immigrants’ relationships with everyday places. The project focuses in particular on immigrant children, comparing their landscape perceptions to the Italians’ ones. 40 children were involved, living in two localities of the Veneto Region (Northeastern Italy): “Arcella”, a neighborhood of the city of Padova and Borgoricco, a small town located near Padova. A qualitative and multi-method approach was employed, combining the autophotography technique with a short closed-ended questionnaire, individual semi-structured interviews and focus group. Our data indicate that these children build their relationship with everyday places mainly on experiences and social relations they link to such places. Collective significance or aestethic approches are not the most commone ones; however, foreign children more often demonstrate an aesthetic attitude in observations of the landscape and pay more attention to details.
