The paper describes some of the changes in the socio-demographic composition of Italian poverty during about forty years. Important breaks occurred in two periods of crisis (2008 and 2011), but some basic characteristics of Italian poverty remains unchanged. The differences among the various geographical areas in Italy seem to remain constant and so the higher incidence of poverty among families with children (starting from one children). This allows to think of a persistence of the Italian poverty model.
