The location of university settlements entails both economic and social impacts. A wide range of impacts result from the consumption of resources, goods and university facilities, but also human capital production, know-how, income and economic territorial development opportunities. Economic, social and cultural impacts are significant in both the short and long run. This paper suggests a methodology to assess the economic impacts produced by university settlements and cost functions in the short run, and how they contribute to generating satellite activities. The model proposed gives contextualization to the specific case study analysed (i.e. the Agripolis campus of Padua University), in order to verify its integration on both economic and social levels.
