In the last years immigration has become an important issue in the public arena because of the growing number of incoming migrants. Italian cities have a key role to face the challenges of inclusion, social cohesion and pacific cohabitation carried out by immigration flows. In the light of the contemporary trends of local welfare, the article examines the Sprar (System of Protection of Asylum Seekers and Refugees) action in four medium size cities and its effects within the local contexts.
