This history of the Italian Society of Medical Education (SIPEM) does not want to be the objective history of events occurred in the three decades since its foundation, but the story of an adventure, seen through the eyes of a person who directly took part in it: then it is a story that strives to be truthful, but it is tinged with subjective emotional colors probably different from those of others who participated in the same adventure. Therefore this article has almost the shape of a biography that, as a fellow traveller, runs through the stages of life from birth to maturity remaining open to the future and curious of the next developments.
