In the twentieth century, although the body weight has become a discriminating factor, especially towards the female gender: obesity is taking on the character of a new stigma, not only in the richest countries. Food is an object of analysis inherently interdisciplinary, at the crossroads of different branches of knowledge; for their part, in everyday life as well as in literary sequences the eating practices and culinary uses - readable as authentic codes of signification - stand out as space/time for an intersectional interpretation. Around the table the characters meet, relate, define themselves, each from its own membership and identity dimensions: in Helena Janeczek's novel, different voices present and express themselves through food, that proves to be a privileged space of intersection and provides a promising viewpoint on literature.
