The identification of development patterns for Mediterranean Countries is closely connected to enhancement of competitive factors in agricultural sector. The strong vocation for fruit and vegetable production has driven to many success cases in the field of partnership between local and European production and commercial enterprises. Italian agriculture can fully take part in that win-win strategy, above all in export oriented sectors. Synergy between Italian and Mediterranean firms has been consolidated on the base of bilateral agreements, so called “green corridors”, promoted by Agricultural Ministers. Publicprivate cooperation projects aimed to the development of human capital, modernization of local farms structure and qualitative improvement of products. Moreover, the geographical enlargement of production and commercial food chain could strengthen Italian position in international markets and in the European context. Sharing the same interests between Italian and Mediterranean enterprises could also represent an occasion of getting over operators’ skepticism about trade opening, and could help to overcome the old deadlock in EuroMed negotiations.
