The article analyzes the tangled net of issues resulting from a combination of various factors inside the world food crisis and its consequences on the African continent. The pressing emergency for food supply has had direct repercussions on African countries, presently facing new challenges regarding the sale and/or rent of farmland to foreign institutions and agencies. Land and agriculture in Africa have been the recent focal interest of the World Bank and also, of numerous foreign countries and multinational corporations. The massive acquisition of farmland is changing the traditional local farming practices and the entire ecosystem to the detriment of the local farmers and rural communities. The case of Daewoo Logistics Corporation in Madagascar represents a typical example of land grabbing and local natural resources exploitation. The article also examines the implications and consequences of these issues with the recent protests and demonstrations occurred in some African States. Furthermore, it also brings to our attention the profiting of the international financial market on the  primary food sources and its lucrative benefits to the advantage of Government Institutions, from which local populations are often excluded.
