The Euro-Mediterranean Conference held in Barcelona ten years ago has defined the main goals of the economic and political integration between the countries of the south and those of the north coast. Nevertheless, the economic partnership project has not yet been fulfilled, many experts are convinced of its unavoidableness. The aim of this analysis consists in underlining the effects of liberalization on the agri-food sector as a whole. The methodology used consists in the application of the MIRAGE Model (Modelling International Relationships in Applied General Equilibrium). This is a dynamic model on a world scale which allows to study merchandise trade between macroregions. The advantage of the MIRAGE model is the possibility to observe the inner dynamics that emerge from a total elimination of tariff barriers in the long run. The final section is an analysis of the results of the simulation and some hints for reflection are provided.
