The article aims to highlight the recent amendments in European legislation on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a Member State - i.e. the extension of the scope of the Directive 93/7, the extension of the time-limit for checking whether the object found in another Member State is a cultural one and for bringing return proceedings, the increasing of the administrative cooperation between Member States by establishing a module of the IMI system specifically customized for cultural objects and the setting out of criteria to determine a uniform concept of due care and attention in acquiring the cultural object with burden for the possessor to provide proof of it for the purpose of compensation - provided for in the Directive 2014/60/UE adopted on the 15 May 2014, with term to comply for Member States fixed by 18 December 2015, repealing the Directive 93/7 with effect from 19.12.2015.
