Although the concept of posthuman seems to be gaining ground in contemporary thought, it is still a concept in progress however, with different or even opposite interpretations. On the one hand, twentieth-century philosophy (Anders, Jonas) denounces the pathologies and risks for humanity deriving from the unlimited development of technology; on the other hand, current posthuman philosophy (from Haraway to Braidotti) calls for anthropocentric humanism to be overcome through unprecedented hybridization processes and an openness to otherness as also made possible by technology. What is certain is that the challenge of the posthuman can only be addressed by a responsible subject who can rediscover the meaning and purpose of his/her actions.
