It's impossible to think about cinema without taking into account the technical dimension that permeates its essence. Therefore it's impossible to think about the "seventh art" without considering the fundamental overlap between "technique", as a set of procedures and methods of composition of any artwork, and "technology", a context regarding the material devices and equipment involved in the creation of any film. On this basis, this essay aims to offer a reflection on the cinema as a "technological object" specific of modernity and then as a fundamental part of an economic, social and political system of which it is, at the same time, a constitutive force.
