The OECD long-term forecasts on western economies show a product slowdown and an employment stagnation. For avoiding a society characterized by an increasing job insecurity and economic and social inequalities, it deems necessary to raise the political issue of the work redistribution through the working hours reduction. This policy for labour can be made easier by a basic income in support of the part-time employment and it must be joined with a demand policy for the macroeconomic equilibrium and with a productive transformation for providing the non-market goods essential for well-being growth.
