This paper discusses the provisions of Art. 1 of the Legislative Decree 91/2013 concerning Pompeii's archaeological site. While the goals of these provisions could be endorsed, in particular the implementation of the "Pompeii project" co-financed by the European Union, quite a few objections arise in relation to the attached organisational measures. In particular, the new "General Director of the project", whose task is to ensure the implementation of the interventions aimed at the conservation of the Pompeii site, risks turning out to be as unsuccessful as the other extraordinary authorities that had been envisaged in the past such as the Deputy Commissioner and the City manager.
