The proliferation of critical studies which followed the publication of Foucault's latest courses at the Collège de France clearly points out the necessity of contextualizing his reflections of the '80s within the whole frame of his research. Particularly, some recent works stress the meaning of the further and conclusive shift imposed by Foucault to his studies once he focused on ancient philosophy. This note proposes a reading of these critical works through the foucauldian concept of governmentality, which allows to combine the theoretical developments of Foucault's studies between the '70s and the '80s within the frame of the relationships among truth, power and subjectivity.
