The article scrutinizes the main contents of the technical rules and the operational guidelines for the implementation of the provisions regarding the sponsorship of cultural goods, recently issued by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage. The fundamental issues are two: the clarifications on the scope of application of the rules on the appointment of the sponsor introduced by the new section 199-bis of the Italian Public Procurement Code and the consistency of the benefits granted to the sponsor in return for its contribution with the need to adequately protect the cultural heritage.
