The aims of the research are: a) to validate the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List (ISEL)in an Italian population sample and to test the psychometrics proprieties; b) to test therelationship between social support, stressful experiences and symptomatology, using thestress buffering model. 308 adults, took part to the project and completed the followingquestionnaires: a) the Italian version of the ISEL questionnaire, b) self report on Stress Perceived Measure (MSP), c) self report on symptomatology (SCL-90R). The results confirmedthe factor structure of the questionnaire and presented good psychometrics proprieties ofthe scales. Moreover, then data confirmed the buffering effect that the people with a higherscore in social support were protected against the harmful effect of stressful events.
