The aim of this exploratory study was to examine the main psychometric propertiesof the Italian version of the Lum Emotional Availability of Parents (LEAP; Lum and Phares,2005), a self-report instrument that assesses separately adolescents' perceptions of their mothers' and fathers' emotional availability. LEAP and IPPA were administered to a sample of 126 adolescents (mean age = 16.34; DS = 0.85). Exploratory factor analyses, carried out independently for maternal and paternal items, revealed unifactorial structures; in addition, internal consistencies were high for both of them. There was an elevated correlation between LEAP and IPPA, both on the maternal scores and on the paternal ones.
