The word Europeanisation describes all the transformations related to European integration process. Radaelli (2000: 2) refers to: “Processes of construction diffusion and institutionalization of formal and informal rules, procedures, policy paradigms, styles, ‘ways of doing things’ and shared beliefs and norms which are first defined and consolidate in the making of EU decisions and then incorporated in the logic of domestic discourse, identities, political structures and public policies”. In building of Integrated Territorial Development Strategies the European regions are more and more invited to consider Europe the international stage where to raise public recognition with new political legitimacy. Integration potential within horizontal and verticals networks, inside and outside the traditional institutional orders, the availability of new resources denotes Europe the new modern political space. The paper, considering main reference the experience and findings provided by European Spatial Planning Observatory Net- work, explores the ways to include and integrate the European dimension (knowledge-base and policy recommendations) in the present planning documents, with particular reference to regional development (Regional Territorial Plans).
