The aim of the research was to study: (a) the development of triadic co-regulation processes and the infant's gender differences, and (b) the inter-family differences in the developmental trajectories of the triadic competences in the first year of infant's life. 38 families belonging to a non-clinical population participated in the study and were recruited during the prenatal education classes. At 4° and 9° infant's month the Lausanne Trilogue Play (Fivaz-Depeursinge e Corboz-Warnery, 1999) was administered in order to assess the quality of triadic interactions in the family. The results show that the triadic competences increased over time, independently of the infant's gender. Finally, two clusters of families that show two different types of developmental processes were found: one group of families that have an high and stable level of triadic interaction competences and one group of families that present a lower level of triadic co-regulation, but increasing in time.
