The narrative works by Diderot are characterized by a massive use of dialogue with a metadiegetic participation of both the narrator and often the narratee. In the Diderot's «Tales» these two features are complementary and interchangeable. Together they offer the real reader the broadest point of view on the narrated events, involving him in a critical analysis and reflective process.
