Contemporary society's recent developments have brought back to the center of public and sociological debate the reflection on the concepts of generation and intergenerational relationships in reference to the study of youth. The article, based on the presentation and the discussion of three new books that deal with such issues ("Generations. The Time Machine in Theory and Practice", of J. Burnett, 2010, "Handbook of Youth and Young Adulthood. New Perspectives and Agendas", edited by A. Furlong, 2009 and "Generazioni diseguali. Le condizioni di vita dei giovani di ieri e di oggi: un confronto", edited by A. Schizzerotto, U. Trivellato and N. Sartor, 2011) aims at highlight opportunities, possibilities and difficulties of adopting generational and intergenerational approach in youth's studies.
