The bilateral U.S.-China relationship is currently the most important in the world. According to Roger Altman, who has recently written on this topic in the influential American journal "Foreign Affairs", both countries share geopolitical interests in Iran, North Korea and Pakistan. This is a popular opinion, but not all the experts share this point of view. Altman does not discuss the currency issue that is currently complicating the U.S.-China relationship. Zhou Xiaochuan's stress on the need to reform the international financial system and on the role of the Special Drawing Rights of the International Monetary Fund points in this direction. China's development and globalization leadership are at stake.
