In the entire research of Levinas and in Arendt's last writings on ethics there is an ample discussion of the notion of goodness. Goodness as distinguished from the good: the analysis, of phenomenological nature, tends at describing the 'experience' of goodness and eventually resolves in a phenomenology which is impossible and aporetical. The reflection on goodness, when facing the new forms of evil as they appear in the XX century, shapes itself as a necessary attempt at redefining man's humanity.
