This paper purports to analyse some issues pertaining to the ongoing armed conflict between Russian Federation and Ukraine which, as it is well known, has started after the deliberate and unprovoked aggression of the latter on behalf of the former. After reviewing in a concise way some rules of jus ad bellum, jus in bello, and human rights law violated by Russia, the contribution focuses on the right to food of the Ukrainian people living in the disputed territories and the world food security which both appear threatened by some means of conducting hostilities set up by the Russian armed forces. Some applicable rules of the international humanitarian law will be examined, in order to establish a rela-tion with the human right to food. The legal analysis of the agreement known as Black Sea Grain Initiative, which aims at a restart of the international grain trade from Ukrainian ports so contributing to international food security, will also be dealt with.
