This paper first examines the practice of the Council of Europe bodies, namely the Committee of Ministers and the Parliamentary Assembly, following the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation that began on February 24, 2022. The various decisions adopted by the Committee of Ministers pursuant to art. 8 of the Statute of the Council of Europe are reviewed, first on the suspension of the Federation's participation and voting rights and then on its expulsion from the organization with effect from March 16, 2022. On the latter decision, some critical remarks are made. Secondly, the work focuses on the practice followed by the European Court of Human Rights in the same contingency. In particular, it considers the interim measures indicated, the impact of the expulsion of the Russian Federation on the participation of this State Party in the European Convention on Human Rights, and the fate of Russian cases pending before the same Court
