In 1945, with the signature P., an article on Cavour appeared in the supplement of the newspaper «Gazzetta Ticinese». An innovative portrait of a «European» Cavour emerged: convinced of the principles of freedom, but also open to social problems. It was a different interpretation compared with those of Gentile, Omodeo and Salvatorelli. This essay attributes the text to Ettore Passerin d’Entrèves, then an exile in Switzerland, on the basis of unpublished correspondence.
