72According to the UNICEF’s General Framework for Malnutrition, Household Food Security is one of the three underlying causes of maternal and child undernutrition. In order to verify whether this relation also applies in rural areas of the province of Central Kasai, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we performed a cross-sectional study which included 300 randomly selected households of eight rural districts. The research revealed that child malnutrition – measured as wasting and stunting – was not correlated with Food Consumption Score (FCS)
