The article shows the results of a qualitative research on the use social media by Palestinian youth. We realized a two-step survey, with an on line questionnaire (103 answers) followed by in-depth in presence interviews to 18 people aged 20-28, which took place in West Bank in June 2018. Three main indications emerged, which deal with the choice of Facebook friends, the division of labor among different platforms, and the prevalence of ordinary and non-political uses of social media, despite the well-known political implications of Palestinian digital communication. Overall, different results point to the same direction: namely, the overlapping between digital sociality and physical experience, with social media being used for building a local solidarity, whereas Palestinian media have traditionally talked to an international audience.
