A Smart City is a city where innovation is a tool to enhance the citizens’ sense of belonging and participation into the community while improving the quality of life. In Italy, the concept of Smart Cities is quite new; therefore, any assessment depicts only the present situation. The second survey on the Smart Cities Index states Trento at the first place among 103 main cities as to economy, quality of life, mobility, social capital, governance and environment. Trento is included in the world of smart implementing important experimental projects in the field of tourism, sustainable mobility and services. Interactive and multimedia information regarding Christmas market available since late 2013 to SensorCivico (CitySensor), a tool allowing people to communicate with the Town Council and provide suggestions, comments and tips thus enhancing community participation. Other ongoing projects involve sustainable mobility, data processing and publication with free availability up to Smart Lighting 4 Smart Digital City to manage efficiently public lighting system and innovative services using the existing infrastructure.
