THE NEW EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE ON PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AND THE CONTRAST TO CORRUPTION Public procurement is one of the causes for corruption. The European Union has just regulated self-cleaning in its public procurement Directive from 2014, establishing a series of characteristics to be developed by the Member States.
