This is an Italian translation of a seminal article, originally given as a conference in Freiburg in 1989. Moving from the remark that texts circulate without their context, Bourdieu develops some insights for a program of research on the international relations in the cultural field. A true science of international relations in matters of culture should take as its object the whole series of social operations involved in the circulation of texts acorss national borders, and in particular the processes of selection (what is published, who translates, who publishes?) and marking (publishing house, series, préfacer, etc.). Such analyses are an indispensable tool for combating misunderstandings stemming from importation and for promoting a true internationalization of intellectual life. This Italian translation is published with an original introduction by the editors contextualizing the text in Bourdieu's intellectual and international career, as well as in the burgeoning field of translation studies.
