The notion of "more representatives trade unions" is well known in the recent Italian Labour Law. In the Act n. 30/2003, this notion is geared to select trade unions organizations that may take part in the E.B. and to identify collective agreements in charge of new functions in the labour market; in this second case, it is specified the level of collective bargaining: not only the national one but also the local and even the plant level. The Author suggests to verify if this reform is an evolution of the past experiences or the outlining of a new role for trade unions in the labour market regulation. The Author looks into the effects of the above mentioned notion for the industrial relation model, underlying in particular the questions of "separate collective agreements" and of the lack of a representativeness tests.
