Record linkage purposes to match records from different data sets that correspond to the same statistical unit. Many currently used statistical models of record linkage make use of a independence hyphotesis which is manifestly false. In this paper we study in details the conditions that a coherent statistical analysis must satisfy and propose a Bayesian model which does not suffer the cited serious drawback, yielding an inference which our simulations show tl provide very good results.
