The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between standards of proof and the principle of efficiency of justice. It is divided into two parts: in the first, some terminological and methodological clarifications of these concepts, taken separately, are provided. The second part examines the main interrelationships between efficiency and standards of proof, including through the examination of some paradigmatic decision-making standards, such as the BARD and the reasonable prospect of conviction
