This article attempts to contribute to a better understanding of Neo-Scholasticism,a movement within Catholicism which shaped both philosophyand theology. Emerging in the course of the nineteenth century, it dissolvedand finally disappeared in the wake of Vatican II. By means of a case-studyfocusing on dogmatics, the rise and fall of Neo-Scholasticism is outlined.The object of inquiry is the Academia Theodoriana, today’s Department ofTheology in the city of Paderborn, Germany.
