This article examines in detail the Imperial War Museum in London and the NationalArmy Museum, also located in London. Using a theoretical frame of differentmemory regimes developed by Anna Cento Bull and Hans Lauge Hansen, itargues that the Imperial War Museum promotes antagonistic forms of memory thatplay into the hands of those in favor of Brexit, whilst the National Army Museumcontains many agonistic interventions that aim at promoting self-refl exivity in thevisitors to the museum and an open-ended dialogue with the past. The article alsorefl ects on whether national history museums are more likely to contain agonisticinterventions as most history wars and battles over memory are still being carriedout in national frames.
