The concept of public space has a long history and very different meanings. Inparticular, the conceptions of political theory and philosophy differ from thoseheralded by urban planners and sociologists, fueling some confusion about the‘public space’ applications. In this contribution, this complexity is put undertension with the type of planetary urbanization we were used to before the arrivalof the covid19. We will end with a reflection on the possible effects thatthe pandemic has on the city and on its public space.
