The research aims to understand how the problems related to quality of life (QoL) and to environmental issues in a high complexity rural area, may be related to the dimensions of territoriality in the strict sense. For this purpose, it has built a theoretical and methodological framework aimed to understand the unfolding of such complexity. Translated into operational terms, the methodology - that in the perspective of post-rural studies and in the territorialist optics is place-based - has resulted in an empirical analysis of a rural area of central Sicily, performed through observation of lived experience of rural residents, detected by a structured sample survey - that in order to ensure the effective representativeness of those reside in the countryside, has used a complex sampling design. The aim is to understand which dimensions of territorial capital are particularly related to the QoL perceived level, and which is, in this context, the role played by the primary sector.
