This essay examines the published works of Girolamo Mercuriale, doctor and humanist from Forlì. There are seventy-three works, mostly concerning lectures held at the Universities of Padua, Bologna and Pisa. The majority were not published directly by the author himself, but by editors from Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland. The fact Mercuriale's works were circulated widely is testified by the many editions and reprints published in several European countries during the first half of the seventeenth century. We have also included a mention of other authors' published works in which Mercuriale??s writings appear, as well as translations and reprints of Mercuriale's work published until the year 2000. This will enable the reader to better understand the importance the doctor's thoughts carried in European scientific and cultural circles both during his own lifetime and for centuries afterwards. This bibliography may be of help to historians of medicine and anyone else wishing to study the production of scientific books during the Renaissance period.
