Are the Absolute and the world different or non-different? The advantages and disadvantages of either view are synthesized in Gau?iya theology in a doctrine derived from scriptural statements about the paradoxical nature of god. In this tradition this paradox is illustrated and explained in positive terms, through circles of narration and comprehension. Unlike other Vedantic traditions, the assumption is not the impossibility of expression, but rather the convergence of contradictory aspects in the divine personality as the very mark of divinity.
