230This article focuses on the Di Donato School in a neighbourhood of Rome. It explores the activities and organization of the Association of Parents, engaged in an integration process aimed at responding to the multiculturalism and multi-ethnic issues of this school. By studying their bases for action, this article highlights the subjective and shared experiences of the 'open school', through a symbolic re-appropriation of common goods. The school represents an exemplary place to re-build institutions and active citizenship. The research shows how the experimentation of new forms of sociability, through this children's school, can create a local citizenship dynamic, and emerge as an ethic model of democracy for the next generations. The case study Di Donato appears to be a privileged place for a new direct form of participation cognizant of the common good, at the same time, institutions that engender a sense of democracy.
