In social psychology, morality is considered as a fundamental dimension of judgment andevaluation, both at the individual and at the group level. Nevertheless, research on moralityhas been often conducted considering it as an individual construct, that is, as the simplesuppression of selfish, or as the suppression of aggressiveness. The present paper reviewsevidence on the relevance of morality by taking a group-based approach, which considersthe fundamental role of referential groups for the comprehension of the dynamics of moralityitself. Such an approach is based on social identity theory as a framework.
