Apple Tree is a Macintosh computer program designed to fit multinomial processing tree (MPT) models to empirical data. It was first developed by Rothkegel (1999) in the wake of the growing popularity that this kind of software gained for Personal Computers. This paper helps explain how to use the software in the context of source monitoring data analysis. A brief section is dedicated to the description of the main features of the software. However, the major emphasis is a discussion of the procedures by which we can compare models fit and parameter estimates across different groups or conditions.
