1013The essay reflects on the claim, advanced by Katharina Pistor, German law Professor at Columbia University, that the main purpose of law is to promote the growth of the private wealth of private powers. This is especially true in the era of economic globalisation, when international law firms rewrite financial rules, most prominently in the field of digital innovation, in favour of large multinational companies and at the expense of the public authorities.
