This article which centres on Poland examines recent pro-abortion protests known as “black protestµ and women’s strikes as instances of new types of activist practices that focus on broadly defined reproduction, and are able to mobilize significant political majority. In the first part I present recent street demonstrations as part of the longer history of struggle for gendered democracy in Poland. Then I demonstrate that the legacy of the recent protests is carried out within the grassroots activist’s networks created largely outside of the hostile state during the time of the multiple crises. I conclude by examining these new forms of activist work in the broader framework provided by social reproduction theory. I argue that as representing new forms of political subjectivity new activists mobilizations bare potential of redefining democratization, and re-democratization debate in Poland
