458This article documents the connections between transhumanism, the intellectual and cultural movement that emerged at the end of the twentieth century, seeking the techno cultural improvement of human beings, and eugenics, focusing especially on the debates between modern transhumanists and bioethicists. Previous scholarship has concentrated on Julian Huxley, notable biologist and eugenicist, who coined the term «transhumanism» in the 1950s. With greater emphasis on the broader and more diverse modern transhumanist movement, this article analyzes transhumanism as a case study in the history of present-day eugenics.
