Construction of an endogenous development model for the fishing villages. - The recovery of the fishing villages of seven regions of the south-eastern Mediterranean has been the basis for the co-design of an endogenous development model as part of a tourism cooperation program called "Tech Net - CIP INTERREG III B Archimed". If tourism activities represent a development opportunity for the marginal regions, they also give rise to mostly speculative territorial processes of strong environmental impact, a growing human presence dedicated to the waste and a troubling "detachment" of living from local practices. With a view to preserving the delicate Mediterranean ecosystem it was shared by the partners an innovative version of “diffuse” hotel designed by the Sicilian team for the seaside village of Vergine Maria.
