In some cities, the statistics relating to tourism, despite the strong erosion induced by the economic crisis in terms of arrivals and presences, show a good resilience of the phenomenon, thanks to events of commercial nature. The intersection of tourism data with the entrances to museums and monuments, as well as the economic events that involve on the urban center, owever, envisage a significant disharmony: in front of a consistent flow of people in a tipically tourist place, the effects induced by these events on the overall economy of the city are relatively low, since a full visitor's interaction with the "atmosphere, the knowledge and tastes" of the place (and the related territory) is lacking. What are the reasons of this untapped potential? Which strategies and solutions could be adopted to encourage the stay and the economic exploitation of the territory as a whole? In the contribution we analyse the case of the city of Verona, where in spite of a strong tourist flow, proper and improper, the economic impact and the interaction with the territory remains low and marginal.
